Join us for great Friday evening dinner parties and Sunday afternoon workshops as Liz Clark guides you through hands-on preparation of some of the world's great dishes and teaches you an appreciation of the freshest and fines ingredients.

Recognized by some of the world's most prestigious food organizations and publications as one of the Midwest's leading chefs, Clark holds degrees from La Varrene in Paris and the Oriental Cooking School in Bangkok. She has worked with 3-star chef Roger Verge at the Moulin de Mougins in the south of France, and operated her own restaurant and cooking school in Iowa for 30 years. During those years the James Beard Foundation called her the "First Lady of Iowa Cuisine" and the Chicago Tribune named her the "Julia Child of the Midwest." Clark's passion for food is contagious!

Come for the fun; go away with an enhanced appreciation for the art of eating well. The charming setting of Baxter's Old Nauvoo Winery and the soon to be neighboring Nauvoo Blue Cheese factory provide an added culinary incentive to taste and enjoy. Brenda Logan, Baxter's wine maker, will be on hand to guide your wine tasting.

Each class is $45/person unless otherwise stated and includes a full meal. There are no extra charges for supplies. Classes will be held at Baxter's Old Nauvoo Winery, 2010 Parley in Nauvoo, Illinois unless otherwise specified in the class description.     

 

To register, please call Carl Sandburg College, the Branch Campus at Carthage, 1-217-357-3129, ext. 7237, stop in at any Sandburg Campus or visit the CSC web site, www.sandburg.edu. Classes must be paid for upon registration. Register Monday through Friday. No cancellations after the Wednesday preceding the class. You may send someone in your place.

Fresh, light soups that taste of summer. Soupe au Pistou, Summer 3-Onion Soup, Provencal Seafood Stew with Rouille. Need you ask? Of course we'll bake fresh, crusty breads to accompany our supper. A perfect late summer meal.
